Here are the electrical requirements for a new Arctic Spa hot tub, swim spa, or all-weather pool that is running on 220 volts.
You will need a 60-amp GFCI service with 4 wires and 6-gauge wire. You will need to run the wire typically to a disconnect that is at least 5’ away from your Arctic Spa, within sight, and less than 50’ from the Arctic Spa. From the disconnect, you will need to run the wire to the spa and then leave an additional 10’ of wire. This means that if your box is mounted 3’ off of the ground on your house that is 8’ away from the spa, you will run the wire down the wall (3’), over to the spa (8’), and then 10’ additional so you can reach the equipment. This would put you at 21’ total of wire from the box.
You can enter the spa at any point all the way around the spa with the electrical. Then the electrical is run around to the equipment.
For swim spas and all-weather pools, the electrical needs to go to the end where the control panel is.
If you are installing the spa where you can run the electrical under the spa, such as new concrete, you can bring the power in under one of the corners of the spa. 12” in on the diagonal.
If you have a raised deck, we can place the spa first and drill through the bottom to bring the electrical up through the floor.
