Spa display is reading HL
The HL reading in the display stands for Hi-Limit. The hi-limit is measuring the temperature at the heater, not the actual water temperature of the spa. if your spa is reading HL, it will not allow your heater to turn on and therefore you will notice the pumps will be running close to 24 hours a day. The most common reason for a HL error is actually a power surge and has nothing to do with the temperature at the heater being too hot.
If you notice the HL reading on your display, you will want to do the following:
- Turn the power off at the breaker for 15 seconds and then flip it back on. This will reset the HL reading.
- You will notice the display show some numbers. This is just the software version. Once it is finished restarting, the temperature will be displayed.
- If you see the HL come back within a day or so, this means that there is likely a problem with the probe or the motherboard. You will want to schedule a service call for a tech to look at repairing the problem.
